The Duty of Honoring the Month of Ramadan in Its Farewell as We Honored It in Its ArrivalThis is the final sermon of the Friday Prayer on May 7, 2021,
by His Eminence Sheikh Tamam Ahmad, may Allah preserve him,
at the Imam Ja'far Al-Sadiq Mosque, Ain Hafadh Village, Safita.
O Allah, do not make this the last time we fast this Ramadan, and make me one of the blessed and not the deprived!

It is in human nature that when one moves from one place to another, or from one situation to another, they tend to encounter a friend, see their family, or visit a loved one. Upon entering such a place, they make certain rituals, such as a warm welcome and a greeting. Similarly, when leaving, they make rituals too, such as saying farewell with kindness.

The same should apply to these days, this holy month should also have its share of respect and reverence. Just as it was received with honor and reverence upon its arrival, it should also be bid farewell with the same respect.

One of the blessings of this holy month is that it is greeted with the Quran, as the Quran was revealed during it. Therefore, those who wish to fast and honour this month should greet it with the recitation of the Quran and make sure to engage in remembrance and acts of worship each night, so that they may fast the day by keeping their limbs away from sin and spend their nights in voluntary worship, supplication, and seeking closeness to Allah.

When the month nears its end, it is right that it is bid farewell with the same honor and reverence it was welcomed with.

It is reported that Jaber bin Abdullah Al-Ansari entered upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at the end of Ramadan or during the last Friday of the month. He said:

"This is the last Friday of Ramadan. Pray to Allah to not make this the last of our fasting. If it is, then make me one who is blessed and not one who is deprived. For whoever says this has attained one of two good things: either Allah will let them live to witness another Ramadan, or they will be granted forgiveness and mercy."

Either he will be granted to witness the blessed month of Ramadan in the coming year, or this supplication will be a cause for him to receive Allah's forgiveness and mercy.

Today is the last Friday of this blessed month, so let us ask Allah, the Almighty, to make us among those who fasted and perfected their fast, and among those who refrained from sins with their limbs and souls, so that their deeds are accepted.

May He make us among those who listen to the words and follow the best of them, and among those who, whenever a sin presents itself, remember Allah, the Almighty. May He make us among those who, whenever they sin, seek forgiveness, and whenever they make mistakes, repent.
May He grant us, in this month, what we have done. If there has been any shortcoming, may Allah, the Almighty, make up for it with His mercy and forgive our shortcomings. If we have wronged ourselves, may He forgive our wrongdoings. And if there remains any act of worship for us, may He assist us in fulfilling it.

If we are granted another Ramadan, may we be able to witness it in good health and in a state of readiness to worship Allah with sincerity and humility, without turning away from His commands or from the obedience of His Prophet and His chosen ones.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family.

O Allah, we ask You by the right of this month, and by the right of those who worshipped You in it, from its beginning until its end, whether they were angels You brought near or a Prophet You sent, or a righteous servant You chose, that You send blessings upon Muhammad and his family. Make us worthy of the honor You have promised Your close ones, and grant us the rewards of those who excel in their obedience to You.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and protect us from any form of polytheism in our belief, from doubt in our faith, from blindness to Your way, and from neglecting Your sanctity, and from falling into the tricks of the devil.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and if You have freed any souls from the fire in any of the nights of this blessed month, make us among those You free, and make us the best companions of this month.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, and erase our sins as the new moon erases its light, and remove our burdens as the days of Ramadan pass. Purify us from our mistakes and grant us mercy from Your forgiveness

We ask Allah, the Exalted, to make us among those who listen to good advice and follow the best of it.

O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and his family, blessings that accept our prayers, respond to our supplications, forgive our sins, wipe away our misdeeds, enrich our lives, and heal our brokenness. You are capable of everything.

O servants of Allah,  indeed, Allah commands justice, goodness, and the giving of charity to those who are close, and He forbids immorality, wrongdoing, and transgression. He advises you, so that you may remember. ﴿Surat An-Nahl90﴾

O Allah, make us of those who remember when reminded, who turn away from sin when rebuked, who listen when we are taught, and who see the truth when it is shown to us.

I say this, and I ask Allah for forgiveness for me and for you.
